【摘要】:Eachtypeofweirandflumepossessesadvantagesanddisadvantagesrelativetotheothertypeswhenitisconsideredforaspecificapplication;consequently,theselectionprocessofteninvolvesreachingacompromiseamongseveralfeatures.Thisguideisintendedtoassisttheuserinmakingaselectionthatishydraulically,structurally,andeconomicallyappropriateforthepurpose.Itisrecognizedthatnotallopen-channelsituationsareamenabletoflowmeasurementbyweirsandflumesandthatinsomecases,particularlyinlargestreams,dischargesmaybestbedeterminedbyothermeans.(See6.2.2.)1.1Thisguidecoversrecommendationsfortheselectionofweirsandflumesforthemeasurementofthevolumetricflowrateofwaterandwastewaterinopenchannelsunderavarietyoffieldconditions.1.2ThisguideemphasizestheweirsandflumesforwhichASTMstandardsareavailable,namely,thin-plateweirs,broad-crestedweirs,Parshallflumes,andPalmer-Bowlus(andotherlong-throated)flumes.However,referenceisalsomadetoothermeasurementdevicesandmethodsthatmaybeusefulinspecificsituations.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
