【摘要】:ThisisthefirstASTMstandardtestmethodforassessingthemassquantityofparticulatesinmiddledistillatefuels.TestMethodD5452anditspredecessorTestMethodD2276weredevelopedforaviationfuelsandused1galor5Loffuelsample.Using1galofamiddledistillatefuel,whichcancontaingreaterparticulatelevels,oftenrequiredexcessivetimetocompletethefiltration.Thistestmethodusedaboutaquarterofthevolumeusedintheaviationfuelmethods.Themassofparticulatespresentinafuelisasignificantfactor,alongwiththesizeandnatureoftheindividualparticles,intherapiditywithwhichfuelsystemfiltersandothersmallorificesinfuelsystemscanbecomeplugged.Thistestmethodprovidesameansofassessingthemassofparticulatespresentinafuelsample.Thetestmethodcanbeusedinspecificationsandpurchasedocumentsasameansofcontrollingparticulatecontaminationlevelsinthefuelspurchased.Maximumparticulatelevelsarespecifiedinseveralmilitaryfuelspecifications.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthemassofparticulatecontaminationinamiddledistillatefuelbyfiltration.ThistestmethodissuitableforallNo.1andNo.2gradesinSpecificationsD396,D975,D2880andD3699andforgradesDMAandDMBinSpecificationD2069.1.2ThistestmethodisnotsuitableforfuelswhoseflashpointasdeterminedbyTestMethodsD56,D93orD3828islessthan38C.Note18212;Middledistillatefuelswithflashpointslessthan38Chavebeenignitedbydischargesofstaticelectricitywhenthefuelshavebeenfilteredthroughinadequatelybondedorgroundedmembranefiltersystems.SeeTestMethodsD2276andD5452formeansofdeterminingparticulatecontaminationinSpecificationD1655aviationturbinefuelsandothersimilaraviationfuels.SeeGuideD4865foramoredetaileddiscussionofstaticelectricityformationanddischarge.1.3Theprecisionofthistestmethodisapplicabletoparticulatecontaminantlevelsbetween0to25g/m3providedthat1Lsamplesareusedandthe1Lisfilteredcompletely.Higherlevelsofparticulatecontaminantcanbemeasured,butaresubjecttouncertainprecision.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
